I was just reading the New York Times’ Dealbook which is edited by Andrew Ross Sorkin and it seems the entire Madoff clan, including Andrew and Mark Madoff (the sons), Peter Madoff (the brother) and Shana Madoff (the niece) have all agreed to an “asset freeze” imposed by the trustee Irving H. Picard. What that means is that they need permission to spend anything over $1,000 till Mr. Picard’s $200 million lawsuit against them, on behalf of defrauded investors, is adjudicated.
Leads me to wonder about Debbie Madoff who filed for divorce from Andrew Madoff last December on the same day Bernie Madoff was cuffed and taken downtown to be arraigned. That divorce can’t possibly be settled with this much still going on. This investigation, this case will likely take a while to resolve itself. Meanwhile, even though Deb and Andrew seems to have had a quiet, amicable split, there doesn’t seem to have been any equitable distribution; the judge has pretty much put that on ice. From the get go I’ve always worried about that for the former Mrs. Andrew Madoff. She married him when they were both in their twenties and got out of the marriage roughly 20 years later when she was in her early 40′s. She’s been a housewife this whole time; no recent job skills. You have to wonder what she’s going to do now? Chances are, by the time Picard gets through with Andrew, there won’t be anything to equitably distribute.

Why would anyone possibly care about “Deb”. Did you bother to think about the coincidence i.e. filing for divorce the exact same day that Poppa Bernie was cuffed? Puhlease…Assets frozen: Sure they are; stacks of $100 bills are sitting in three different SubZero’s…No surprise that the Feds haven’t bothered to even look in the most obvious places for the stash of cash! Try tuning in to Bernie’s Channel–you might learn something..(Bernie’s Blog..)

I see you have a low opinion of women in general & “housewives” in particular, I’m sure she has plenty of “marketable skills” unlike the author of this article.
Smitty what an idiotic statement. Just because she has no recent job skills and has been a housewife does not mean the “author” thinks lowly of Ms. Madoff. Obviously if someone’s been primarily a housewife they won’t have recent job skills outside the home as a general rule. That’s just the nature of being a housewife. But to take what was said in the article and make a judgmental statement about the author of this article just reflects on you that you are not only “unmarketable” (figures, since you have so much down time to not only frequent our blog but you can even make idiotic statements to a number of our posts – isn’t there anything more productive you can do with your time?) you are also an idiot who has trouble with analytical reasoning. Buzz off, you annoying little fly….are in in Washington?
