Divorce in California: Revenge Porn is Illegal. Do Not Do What Rob Kardashian did to Blac Chyna

Revenge Porn in California: Illegal! Do Not Do what Rob Kardashian did to Blac Chyna

Rob Kardashian is now the poster boy for a “revenge porn in California” don’t. The Internet is abuzz with the news that Rob Kardashian had an epic breakdown on social media (Instagream, Twitter, Snapchat) after his ex girlfriend Blac Chyna was allegedly snapped kissing another man.

Rob Kardashian just imploded. Well, he exploded into a jealous fury and started posting a bunch of sexually explicit photographs of his ex. He also let it rip with a ton of profanity and rage what a cheating woman Blac Chyna is and he said that he never wanted his daughter to be raised by Blac.

That is the synopsis of Rob and Blac Chyna.

This post is really about revenge porn in California. The reason being that a lot of people get themselves in trouble when a relationship ends and when they are angry with their ex. The decide to devastate their ex by posting illicit images of their sexual past they shared with this person on the Internet. The objective is humiliation, of course. By posting these images, their ex will be powerless to stop the diffusion of the material all over the global blogosphere. This renders their victim “powerless” and subjects the victim to ridicule, mockery, shame, embarrassment and emotional distress.

Men are more likely to do this to women for reasons that remain unclear. Perhaps because pornography is usually more disrespectful and abusive of women than it is to men. For example, people would pay more to see Kim naked than they would to see Rob naked. It is almost like a woman’s nudity is more titillating than a man’s nudity – which is a totally inexplicable double standard.

The point though is that if you live in California and you are getting divorced and you are angry, sure you can do the revenge porn bit and post these intimate photos of your ex for the world to gawk at and mock your ex. But be advised that you could end up doing up to six months in jail for your troubles because in California, this is a CRIMINAL OFFENSE. This is a relatively new law. I do not think it was enacted at the time of, say, Paris Hilton’s sex tapes. But rest assured, it is a law that is often enforced and not only is it a criminal offense, according to legal experts, it entitles the victim to substantial civil damages as well.

Now.

Just as a disclaimer, I have not personally seen the photos that Rob allegedly diffused on social media. So from my perspective, this story about what he did is not substantiated. Still, the message of this post remains the same. If you live in California like Rob and Blac Chyna and you are getting divorced, no matter how angry you are, do not engage in revenge porn.
