Re: “After Divorce” Shopping Weekend in Milan
Today I want to talk about a great idea for your “after divorce” travel destination. I think you should go to Milan. For the weekend. That’s right. Just for the weekend. No longer. After divorce, sometimes you will be depressed and want to cheer yourself up a bit but you may have to get back to other important things in your life and you don’t have unlimited free time. That is why I propose a weekend in Milan. What a great city to de-compress after a divorce has been finalized and if you got a nice, big divorce settlement, then of course you have to do some major shopping in Milan’s major fashion districts.
Milan is not just for emaciated supermodels doing the catwalk for high end luxury designers. It is also for recent divorcées looking for a bargain and a little bit of fun for the weekend.
Depending on when you go, you definitely have to take in a Prada fashion show live but the next best thing is to visit the Fondazione Prada to check out all their latest exhibits.
Since you will only be in Milan for the weekend, you should definitely carefully map out your itinerary so that you can fit in some of the best sights such as Leonardo Da Vinci’s masterpiece, The Last Supper which is one of the city’s highlights.
But the most important thing is your “after divorce” shopping spree. You should leave aside a full day for Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II arcade in Milan proper. This place is like a shot of amphetamine for shopaholics with money so be prepared to spend big in boutiques like Prada and Louis Vuitton.

In addition to the Galleria arcade, you absolutely have to visit the Quadrilatero della Moda – the Rectangle of Gold where will find a whole ton of high end shops and opportunities to drop some major bucks.
Then of course you have to go to il Salvagente which is a bargain hunter’s dream come true as far as the discounts you get on name brand and high end designer duds and also check out Dmagazine for the real bargains.

Finally, spend a little time window shopping in the Brera Quarter. Here you can enjoy art museums, trendy cafés and other entertainment. Sit and people watch over an apéritif at Marc Jacob’s café.
