TRINIDAD: Rising divorce rates correlated to rising crime rates?

I stumbled upon this article today. It was written earlier in the year but it makes a very interesting argument. It attempts to correlate the high divorce rate in Trinidad (roughly 33 percent) with the rise in crime and general break down in society. Dubious? Or logical? The author makes a reference to the rising number of single parent/fatherless homes and then alludes to the crime rate as somehow stemming from this, which in turn stems from the rising divorce rates. It is one thing to say that divorce is not a great situation. But to blame it for the crime rate in a society? I don’t know. This sounds pretty dubious to me.
